Choose between two class options: Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Both classes run from 9:15 AM - 11:30 AM

There are two teachers, one parent helper, and 12 children in each class.

Open to children who are two years old by September 1st

Children in our toddler room do not need to be potty trained.

Our Toddler room is full of opportunities to encourage discovery and establish the building blocks for future learning. The daily schedule includes large motor play, art, music, reading, snack time, and of course, lots of fun exploration!

Meet Our Toddler Teachers

Cathy Smith

Cathy has a BS in Elementary Education from UW-Milwaukee, and in addition, she has over 20 graduate credits in elementary education. She holds a current DPI elementary teaching license. Cathy had nine years of teaching experience prior to joining CPS in 2011. She has two daughters, and the youngest attended CPS. Favorite children’s book: Swimmy by Leo Lionni. “The underwater illustrations are magical, the language is beautiful, and the message about working together is so important for us all!”

JENNY PRENDERGAST

Jenny has a BA in Comparative Study of Religion and Ethnic Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Before becoming a teacher at CPS Jenny was a board member and parent at the preschool as well as an active volunteer at Richards school and a Girl Scout leader. Favorite children’s book: Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans. ” I love that all of the girls are always there for one another and the illustrations are wonderful!”

Julie Copps

Julie attended Marquette University and has a Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology. Before becoming a stay at home mom, she worked in the Milwaukee Public Schools with children ages 3 – 11. Julie has 4 boys, and the oldest three attended CPS. They have very special memories of CPS, and Julie is excited join this special school. Favorite children’s book: “It’s Hard to Be Five” by Jamie Lee Curtis, because “it’s fun to read and makes me think of my active boys and all the growing up they have done and have yet to do.”

Selina Ross

Selina has worked with young children for more than 10 years prior to becoming at teacher at CPS in 2014. She has experience designing preschool curriculum and has a passion for teaching the toddler age group. Selina has two children, and she and her husband are a respite home for foster families. Favorite children’s book: Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. “I love that when Max is told no for being too wild, he imagines a world where he gets to be in charge.”
